It left the forest and entered utopia; neon was the place you lost your mind.
A mainstay of RCC's (Adelaide Fringe) program neon returned for its third incarnation. Designed by Mapped, the area took on a new industrial aesthetic. white shrink-wrap plastic covered the exterior of the 2 story scaffold structure which held a huge immersive lighting and audio rig, visual art and a massive program of international and national musicians, fit for 1000 dancers.
Also part of NEON's programming was our collaborative Audiovisual show with Motez 'Awakening' which saw the venue come alive at the start of each night.
Surround sound, 40 moving lights, 200m of LED strip, 6 LED Screens, 5 projectors and a custom made stage frontage made NEON one of the more technically complex projects we have undertaken. Everything came together seamlessly, and the venue wowed punters every weekend during the 5 weeks of Adelaide Fringe, entertaining over 40,000 of NEON's humble supporters.
The music line up saw artists such as FJAAK, SPFDJ, Project Pablo, Fantastic Man, Andy Garvey, Jasper James and more, supported by a select group of local selectors including our big boss J.Hennessy. NEON featured Visual Art by Danny Jarrat, Hari Koutlakis, Dave Court, Joel Moore, Grace Plunkett, Zoe Kirkwood & Henry Jarman. Performance art curated by Pulsing Heart.
All this combined brought the greatest year yet for the NEON, and we can't wait to help bring in the next one.
